Impact & transparency

Where the work is heading — and how we stay honest about it.

A living view of the medical AI research Medical Shield AI is funding today, what we plan to support next, and the commitments we make to every contributor along the way.

Initiatives

Active

Open Medical Imaging AI benchmarks

Reproducible evaluation suites that let imaging models be compared honestly across institutions, scanners, and patient populations — a prerequisite for trustworthy deployment.

Active

Clinical NLP for low-resource languages

Datasets and baseline models that extend clinical language understanding beyond English, so care documentation and decision support work for more of the world's patients.

Planned

Triage assistants for community health

Research into AI copilots that help frontline health workers prioritize care in high-volume settings — with a strict focus on safety, escalation, and human oversight.

Planned

Explainability for diagnostic models

Interpretability methods that make model reasoning legible to clinicians. Without it, even accurate models can't be safely integrated into clinical workflows.

Roadmap

  1. Phase 1

    Foundation

Establish the fund, publish the on-chain wallet, and document allocation and reporting processes.

  2. Phase 2

    First grants

Direct initial contributions to open datasets, reproducible benchmarks, and evaluation methodology.

  3. Phase 3

    Applied pilots

Support small, well-scoped applied research collaborations with academic labs and clinical partners.

  4. Phase 4

    Impact reporting

Publish periodic reports summarizing outcomes, negative results, learnings, and next priorities.

Our transparency commitments

  • Public wallet

Every contribution arrives at a single Solana address, verifiable in real time on any block explorer.

  • Clear scope

We fund research; we don't practice medicine. We are careful not to overstate what any project can achieve — or when.

  • Honest reporting

When we share progress, we share limitations and negative results. When we don't have outcomes yet, we say so plainly.

  • Independence

Funding decisions serve the mission — never tied to a single vendor, product, protocol, or platform.
